Sunday 18 February 2007

School starts again on March 1st-and I'm pretty excited. But I really want to decorate my room (again) before they start. So that's the big question of the week-Can Dani makeover her room in the next 9 days? (Sundays don't count.) You would think so, wouldn't you? I will keep you posted on the ever exciting developments.
This week I also start my work for the Humanities Council. I am very excited, but I do feel slight apprehension. I do not know what exactly they will be depending on me to do, or how often they will want me to commit to doing it. I have come to what I believe is a rather practical decision regarding my time which is that no one activity such as school, volunteering, or work will take more than 25 hours per week. Now this can be adjusted a little such as more school, less volunteering etc, but that way I can keep my priorities straight and my mind off the proverbial fritz.
Also this week, at school they are doing The Vagina Monologues. As a humanities major and a used to wannabe actress, I am curious about this. However I have a bit of a fear of the V word. This is not a fear of feminism or of my own sexuality, but rather of biology and pseudo-intellectualism. Also I have no idea what this play is about, and three hours contemplating vijayjays is time that could surely be spent on better things, no? (Any of you freaks out there, that is a rhetorical question.) Anyway, I will let you know if it was worth the time-anyone want to go with me?

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO HONOR THEM WITH YOUR PRESENCE? WHAT KIND OF THEME IS THAT ANYWAY?? IT SOUNDS CHEAP AND VULGAR.

Sorry...about your room. Of course you can get it done in 9 days or less. Throw it out!!!!!!
And decorate and accessorize and make it wonderful. I can't wait to see it.

From what I've heard about the fajita dialogues, they are pretty darn raunchy (or "poignantly blunt" if you prefer a psuedo-intellectual twist). I'm no prude, and I admit I haven't seen it, but what I heard about it just seemed intellectually insulting. I won't rant about why I feel this way, but I'd urge you to look into it a bit more before you decide whether or not to attend. Wikipedia probably has all the info you could want.
